Join WVSOAR and come fly rockets with us! There are several great reasons to join WVSOAR. We handle the FAA waiver for flying high power rockets through Level 2 motors (that's J, K and L!) and there is a launch every month of the year.

Flying with a group is more fun — there are stories to tell and share, and you get to see many more flights in one afternoon. We can help you successfully earn your Level 1 or Level 2 High Power Rocket Certification. You will meet great people and make lasting friends, too!

Dust off your old Estes kits, bring out the big J powered behemoth or just bring yourself, but join us and come have fun flying rockets.

If you still are wondering, why not watch our latest launch video? You can pay your memebership fees at the launch.

How Much?

WVSOAR does collect member fees, but only for high power rocket flyers. Estes kits from Wal-Mart and the hobby shops using A through E motors fly for free. 90% of new flyers and all children fit this category. So, come fly.

High power fees are as follows: F and G motors that do NOT require FAA notification/waiver fly for $2 per day. ANY rocket that requires FAA contact must be flown by a WVSOAR member. Currently, you can join for $10 + $2 a day launch fees OR $20 a year with all launch fees included.

These fees go to insure the farm, property and people from any accidental damage and to pay fees associated with the website and promotional materials.

Where

We may be the West Virginia Society of Amateur Rocketry, but our regular launch is at Bob Evans Farm (and Spaceport) in Rio Grande, Ohio.

This is approximately a one hour drive from the WV capital of Charleston. It's a short trip down I-64 and then a lovely drive through the farmlands along the Kanawha River on Rt. 35.

You can make a donation online through Paypal or e-mail us for more information about being a WVSOAR sponsor.
